This ad by Uber Carshare utilizes three weapons of influence:

3. Liking

The ad could have been centered around a normal person talking about their experiences with Uber Carshare, which would also be relatable. The inclusion of famous Finnish 🇫🇮 F1 driver, Valtteri Bottas, is the real thumb-stopper. Valtteri relates very well to the Australian audience with his mullet, laid back attitude, and humorous quips. Social proof is more likely to occur when there is uncertainty around a product or service, which works well with this new service by Uber. If Valtteri is using it, then why shouldn’t you? Finally, having someone that is loved by the Aussie F1 community as your spokesperson just makes sense. From the shorts tan to the Ute, Valtteri is well received by the Aussie car community.
